Our wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, Gee Gee, sister, aunt and friend, age 72, passed away peacefully Monday, January 17, 2000 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Lois was born January 9, 1928 in Salt Lake City to Alfred Darrell and Susie Annie Newson Huggard. Married Eugene J. Skillicorn July 21, 1948 in Salt Lake City; marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church serving in the Young Women's, Primary and Relief Society programs. She retired in 1991 with 25 years of service from the Salt Lake City School District, 23 years as the school secretary and two years in food service at Jackson Elementary School.
Lois will be greatly missed by her husband of 51 years, Eugene; daughters, Susan (Kent) Carothers, West Valley City; Patricia (Robert) Shanda, Taylorsville; Debra (Orrin) Hayes, Spanaway, WA; three grandsons, Rick (Lori) Carothers, Chad (Alison) Carothers, West Jordan; Stan Marvidakis, Price; three great-grandchildren, Randi, Brayden, and Kennedy Carothers, West Jordan; sister, Louise (Mel) Hall, Murray; nieces and nephews and many friends who loved her. Preceded in death by parents, Darrell and Susie Huggard; in-laws, Earl H. and Ida Skillicorn; brother-in-law, Earl D. Skillicorn.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 12 noon at the Taylorsville 1st Ward Chapel, 4845 S. Woodhaven Drive (1365 W). Friends may call Friday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
