From the book, The Fighting Men of Oklahoma: CPL John Frank Clark, son of Mr. & Mrs. Frank A. Clark, was born Feb. 13, 1922 at Coffey MO and attended Burlington OK High School. He was inducted into the service at Wichita KS on Sept 8, 1942. He received boot training at San Diego CA and Field Artillery and Infantry training at Camp LeJeune NC. CPL Clark served 30 months in the SW and Central Pacific Theater, participating in the battles of the Russell Islands and Marshall Islands. He was with the 10th Defense BN., 5th Div., 28th Reg., Co. F and received his discharge Jan. 12, 1946. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Medal, Victory Medal, 2 Battle Stars, the Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart.
