Inez E. Alverson, 93, died Nov. 26, 2008, in Sandpoint, Idaho.
She was born on May 12, 1915 in Brady, Mont., the eldest child of Walter and Olga (Julson) Strauss. Her early years were spent on a homestead outside of Brady. When she was in her early teens, the family relocated to Kalispell where she graduated from Flathead Valley High School.
She married Manley Winfred "Huck" Alverson of Eureka in Whitefish on May 6, 1937. The couple made their home on the Yaak River in western Montana for the next 13 years.
In 1950, they moved to a homestead near Eureka. After her husband died in 1964, Mrs. Alverson moved into Eureka. There, she was a member of the Eureka Lutheran Church and the Friendly Neighbor Club. She worked at the Eureka Creamery for several years.
In 1967, she moved to Spokane, Wash., where she worked at the Crescent Department Store. Due to failing health, she moved from Spokane in 2001. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, craftwork and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Alverson is survived by her three children, Audrey (Leo) Howe of Eastport, Idaho; Judy Wier of Apache Junction, Ariz.; and Dean (OkCha) Alverson of Royal City, Wash.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Junice Clarke, Alice Buck and Lola Booi; two sisters-in-law, Georgia Strauss and Patricia Alverson Hearn; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Herbert, and a granddaughter.
Graveside services were held on Dec. 2 at the Tobacco Valley Cemetery in Eureka. The family asks donations be made in her memory to the Bonner Community Hospice, P.O. Box 1448, Sandpoint, ID 83864.
