Funeral services for J. R. Bookout, 65, of Tahlequah, were held Monday, April 10, 1995, at the First Baptist Church of Porter. Officiating was the Rev. Harold D. Fleming.
Mr. Bookout was born September 13, 1929, at Porter to John and Dellar (Howard) Bookout. He died Thursday, April 6, 1995, at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa.
In his early years, he was employed by a telephone company. He was an area resident most of his life. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Bookout of Okay; two sons, Larry Bookout and Ike Bookout both of Okay; a daughter, Donna Bookout of Okay; two grandchildren, Mechele Hopson and Jeffery Bookout; one great-granddaughter, Samantha Bookout; and a sister, Alice Matthews of Haskell.
Pallbearers included Mike Hope, Brian Barnett, Bob Haley, Jim Haley, Jim summers and David Atchinson. Honorary bearers included Gary Gilliam, Brady Gilliam, Lewis Chaffin, Don McClure and Bob Brown. Interment was in Porter Cemetery under direction of Mallett Funeral Home, Wagoner.
