Jackson Items--As sad a case as has been reported in a long time occurred near Whitewater, when within twenty-four hours five children, the youngest a babe of eighteen months, were made orphans. Alex Welker, who lives between Whitewater and Laflin died on Saturday morning from pneumonia, while his wife followed him to the Great Beyond on Sunday morning, also a victim of the same deadly illness. The funeral of the two parents occurred at the Barks Chapel cemetery on Monday, both being interred in one grave.
