Audra Louise Gentry Shannon January 24, 1937 – December 22, 2007 Audra Louise Gentry Shannon passed from this life on Saturday, December 22, 2007, in McGregor, Texas. A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2008, at Cross Cemetery in Cross, Texas. Audra was born January 24, 1937, to Aubrey and Reba Gentry in Iola where she attended school. Upon his return from Korea, Audra married Bobby Ray Shannon. From this union, three children came into their lives, Bobby Jr., Judy and Tim. Audra was employed by the Bryan Independent School District for 40 years. She enjoyed seeing "her children" grow at school. Toward the end of her working career, she had served children, parents and even some grandparents! Her blood ran "maroon" – she was a strong Aggie and watched their games on television as often as possible. She was also a member of the Business Women's Association of Bryan. She was preceded in death by her parents; another mother, Berta; sister, Wanda; and daughter, Judy Walkoviak. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Jr. and Linda Shannon of McGregor, Texas, and Tim and Sonya Shannon of Galveston, Texas; sisters and brother-in-law, Joyce and Don Ray of Kingsville, Texas, and Laweta Franklin of Bryan; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Audra's favorite charity, Cross Cemetery Association of Cross, Texas, or to the Alzheimer's Association.
