Mrs. Whittle Services Held at Vardaman

Mrs. Florence May Whittle of Vardaman died Thursday, Sept 13 at North Miss. Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was the widow of Van B Whittle who preceded her in death four months ago, in May 1973. A daughter of Nathanial Allen and Rosa Burton Allen she was born in Perry County Indiana, and had lived all her adult life in Calhoun and Chickasaw Counties. She was a member of the Vardaman Methodist Church and the Vardaman Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Martha Carter of Houston, Mrs. Vannie Blue of Vardaman and Mrs. Dorothy Carter of Van Vleet, one brother, Ralph Allen of Marianna, Fla., four sisters, Mrs. Zelda Dye and Mrs. Ruth Hollis of Vardaman, Mrs. Laura Laver and Mrs. Ether Orr of Jackson; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday morning Sept 15 at Vardaman Methodist Church. Rev. Ben Goodwin officiated. Burial was in Houston Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Earl Carter, Tommy Carter, Van Blue, Jerry Blue, Gary McQuary and Hunter Brumfield.
