George Gorden Adair was born in a small settlement beside Wolf Creek (a litteral creek)in Routt County, Colorado. The settlement never was established as a town. His parents were Everett William Adair (1892-1972) and Winifred Isabell Grant Adair ((1898-1947). He was one of nine children, as he had one sister and seven brothers.

He married Venita Mae Manning twice, around 1955 and again Jul 12,1984 in Clark County, Nevada. They had four children - two daughters and two sons. He also helped raise her three sons by a previous marriage to Robert Richards.
