John Littleton Buchanan is the son of Bolivar Baxter Buchanan and Frances "Fannie" Belle Moffett.

John married Lila May Iddings (1900 - 1962) in about 1929 in Pennslyvania, and had 2 lovely daughters: Carole Elane and Jacqueline Dee.

In 1900, he is age 5, born May 1895 on the VA Census.

On the World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918, I found John Littleton Buchanan, residing in Pueblo City, Pueblo County, Colorado, Birthplace: Brownsburg, Virginia on 11 May 1895, Race: Caucasian (White), Roll: 1561788, Draft Board: 2. He lived at 325 Michigan Street. He is working as a machinist at H. Koppes Co. in Pueblo. He is single and claims eyesight for a draft EXEMPTION. He is of medium height, slender, blue eyes and brown hair. He signs his name and dates it 5 Jun 1917. Despite his exemption, it appears he served from Pennsylvania as a Sargent in Company C, 341st FA, 89th Division in WWI GT.

I note his gravestone and Social Security say he was born 11 May 1888, instead of the 11 May 1895 date on his draft card. Somewhere along the way the year was changed by human error and probably repeated on his marker. I suspect the 1895 date is the correct one based on the census records.
