E.J. Lemen Services To Be Friday

Edward Johnson Lemen, 87, 820 S. Summit St., a retired Santa Fe railroad employe, died at 7:55 p.m., Tuesday at Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 7, 1880 in Bruceville, Ind., to George Edward Johnson Lemen and Caroline Blevins Lemen. He was reared in Bruceville and moved to Wheatland, Ind., as a young man. He was married to Jessie Florence Green on July 25, 1906, at Wheatland and they moved to Arkansas City in December 1914. He was employed by the Santa Fe as chief clerk, maintenance of the way department until he retired Aug. 31, 1946.

He was a member of the Central Christian church. He was preceded in death by his wife, who died July 1917.

Survivors include one son, Thomas E. Lemen, 820 S. Summit St., and one daughter, Willetta Hulgan, Compton, Calif.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the Rindt Memorial chapel with Rev. Lewis a McPherren officiating. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery. The body will lie in state until 1 p.m. Friday, and the casket will be closed at the service.
