Frances Caroline Robinson Hale was born March 4, 1940 in Cleves, Ohio to Carl J. Robinson and Alice Marie Smith Robinson. She died November 21, 2005 at her home in Logan, Utah.
She was raised by her Grandma Noes until age seven, in Harrison, Ohio and then went to Campobello, South Carolina with her dad following her parents divorce. After a year in South Carolina she and her dad moved to Blackfoot, Idaho where her dad remarried. During the seventh grade she met her future husband, Robert Hale. She and Bob graduated from Blackfoot High School in the class of 1958. Bob joined the Air Force right out of high school and six months later they were engaged to be married and on July 1, 1959 were married in Blackfoot, Idaho.
Frances was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was baptized three months before she and Bob were married. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple, as eternal companions. Their Air Force career took her to Patrick AFB, Florida, Blackfoot, Idaho (while Bob was on an 18 month tour of duty in the Philippines), and Scott AFB, Illinois. Following Bob's discharge, after eight years in the Air Force, they remained in Illinois for two years while Bob worked for W.T. Grant Co. In 1968 Bob started working for King's Discount Stores and store assignments took them to Burley, Idaho, Logan, Utah, Bountiful, Utah and back to Logan, Utah which has been home for the last fourteen years. Bob retired in 2004.
They have enjoyed traveling and have visited Hawaii, Mexico, Canada, Hong Kong, the British Isles, Egypt, Jordon and Israel.
She is survived by her mother of Clarksville, Tennessee, a brother, Tim Robinson of Clifton, Idaho her husband of 46 years, Robert E. Hale and their five children: Kari Marie (Steve) Kirschman of North Logan, Utah, Christine (Chris) Ozmun of Providence, Utah, Darin Robert (Kelly) Hale of Tigard, Oregon, Derek Wayne (LeEllen) Hale of Crestview, Florida and Charla Kaye (Chris) Cochran of Vestavia Hills, Alabama as well as their sixteen grandchildren, one great grandchild (born November 19, 2005) and many nieces and nephews, stepsisters and half brothers and a half sister.
Since her conversion to the Church Frances has served in Primary, Young Women's, Relief Society (several times as Ward Relief Society President) and as an officiator in the Logan Temple. She also volunteered as a meal deliverer for Meals on Wheels and as a helper in the Logan Temple cafeteria.
The light of her life has always been her family. By never having to work outside the home she was able to devote her full time to her children and grandchildren. The grandchildren will always remember the annual camp outs, the weeks at the Oregon coast and "boys and girls nights out". Even in her sickest moments, when a grandchild would stop by a twinkle would come to eyes. We will miss you Grandma! Hobbies include taking pictures, scrap-booking, keeping a journal, quilting and traveling.
It is suggested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to LDS Humanitarian Fund, Cache County Meals on Wheels or your favorite charity.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2005 at the Logan, Utah East Stake Center, 1450 East 1500 North, Logan, with Bishop Steven Broadbent conducting. Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan and Saturday morning at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be at the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at Nelson Funeral Home.
