Mary Ann, the oldest child of Denny and Polly Wood Bennett, married John W. Fowler on December 4, 1856 in Greenville District, South Carolina. John W. (born June 8th, 1834), was the son of Alexander W. and Minerva Walker Fowler, of the Rocky Creek church neighborhood of Greenville County, S.C.
Mary Ann was a good wife and mother, and helped bravely to raise, under many disadvantages, a large family of children. She died March 9, 1903.
John W. and Mary Ann Bennett Fowler had ten children:
- (1) Denny Alexander "Dennie" Fowler, born October 9th, 1857.
- (2) James Washington "Jim" Fowler, born October 12th, 1859.
- (3) Harvey Bennett Fowler, born December 22d, 1861.
- (4) & (5) Twins: Emma J. Fowler (Hughes); Ella J. Fowler (1. Vaughn; 2. Hudson).
- (6) Rosa Fowler (Stone), born January 20th, 1867.
- (7) Mattie Fowler (Roberts), born January 28th, 1870.
- (8) Lula Fowler (Hudson), born November 12th, 1872.
- (9) Mollie Fowler (Christopher), born April 8th, 1876.
- (10) Dessie Fowler (Garrett), born November 2d, 1879.
