Mary Cathryne Eyre Gliessman, 87, of Eugene, Oregon, formerly of Abingdon, died Friday in Eugene, Oregon.
She was born in Abingdon, the daughter of Harry Clough and Irene Calney Bulkeley.
She married Richard B. Eyre in 1939. He died in 1965. She married William Gliessman in 1968 in Abingdon. He preceded her in death in 1993.
Surviving are one daughter, Jane Eyre McDonald, Eugene, Ore.; three sons, William C. Eyre, Dahinda; Perry Gliessman, Hillsboro, Ore.; and John Gleissman, Seattle, Wash.; one sister, Irene Reeder, Abingdon; four grandchildren, Vanessa McDonald, Alexandra Carr, Lisa Mach and Steve McCullough; and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
She had lived in Abingdon most of her life and in Eugene, Ore. for the past seven years.
She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1931 and attended Brenau College in Georgia and graduated from Knox College in 1935.
She was a teacher at the Abingdon Junior High School for 16 years retiring in 1984.
She was a member of Abingdon United Methodist Church for 77 years. She was a member and past president of P.E.O. and a member of the Button Club, Sorosis Club and Delphian Club.
Private family burial services will be held at the Abingdon Cemetery.
