She was born May 24, 1944 in St. Charles, Virginia. Rita was preceded in death by her previous husband, Patrick Shipman, her parents, 12 brothers & sisters, one granddaughter and one step-daughter.
Rita is survived by her loving husband of the past 19 years, Richard Gessells; two daughters, Robin (Jeff) McIntosh of Dayton and Rachael (David) Luther of PA; three step-children, Tom, Cindy & Dan; 11 grandchildren; one great grandson; and by numerous nieces & nephews.
Rita was a member of the First Baptist Church of Miamisburg. She graduated from Northridge High School in 1963 and retired from General Motors with 30 years of service and then worked at the Montgomery County Library for an additional five years. Rita was loved by everyone who knew her and she will be greatly missed.
