ELKTON - Jesse Earl Hammer, 65, of Rt. 3, Elkton died Thursday at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since May 25.

He was born May 18, 1917 in Page County and was a son of the late Charles and Sara Blanche Seal Hammer.

Surviving are four daughter, Debby Thompson, Anna Lee Frazier and Linda Robinson, all of Elkton, and Evelyn Crawford of Grottoes; five sons, Roy Hammer of West Virginia, Garfield, Leon and Melvin Hammer, all of Elkton, and Gary Hammer of Waynesboro; a sister, Lorraine Cubbage of Springfield; a brother Ray Hammer of Elkton; a half brother, John C. Gordon of McGaheysville; 30 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at Furnace United Methodist Church near Elkton by the Rev. John Vest and the Rev. John Morris. Burial will be in Elk Run Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 7 - 8 p.m. today at the Brill Funeral Home in Elkton. Friends also may call at the home of his daughter, Anna Lee Frazier.
