...“For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.“.... (Isaiah 55:12).

The glory of the Lord shown on our darling mother, Pluma Stumpff on Thursday, June 27, 2002. She was greeted by her Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus whom she trusted and loved all the days of her life.

Pluma Stumpff of Bethany, was born on October 14, 1900, in Moran, Kansas, to Neva and Fred Packham.

She married Gilpin Stumpff on July 3, 1918.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, two brothers, three sisters, her precious and loving husband of 51+ years, and her only son, Gene Stumpff. Mother is survived by her sister, Neva Hill, of Midwest City, and seven daughters: Madalyn (Darwin) Fauss, Jamie (Gene) Thedford, Libby (Troy) Dugger, Carol (Duane) Cory, Donna (Tom) Hoskison, all of Oklahoma City, Pat (Ray) Melrose, of Bethany and Janice (Ray) Fyffe, of Albuquerque, NM. Tee-Tee (as she was affectionately called by some of her grandchildren), is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren, 2 great great great grandchildren spanning six generations.

Mother and Dad moved to Bethany in July of 1933 from Guthrie. They purchased a home and ground for their growing family, and were pleased to have a good school system. Mother lived in this same home until her death. Mother was a brilliant student and business woman, proving to be the “Total Woman“ long before the book was ever written. She had an eye for land (Proverbs 31) and together as Dad’s helpmate, they partnered in real estate, and the oil and gas business. Our memories are sweet as we look back and remember that by 4:00 in the afternoon, she had bathed and cleaned up to meet her husband at the door with a kiss. (Her children were also fresh and clean for Daddy). Precious childhood memories are of our Mother praying with us around our beds asking Jesus to protect our brother, “Genie Boy“, who was in WWII. God always honored her prayers.

Mother was a member of Bethany Nazarene Church where she served many years as a greeter. She was active in her Sunday school class calling members who were ill. She visited the sick in the nursing homes and was active with “Helping Hannah’s“ delivering food to needy people in the community. She also enjoyed tending the plants inside the church. As a wife and mother, she was faithful, loving, and pure. Our sadness at her passing is tempered by our memories of her life well-spent in fellowship with her Lord, His church, and her family. She was upbeat, positive, and had a wonderful outlook on life. In the last three weeks of her life, we would ask her, “How has your day been?“ she would answer, “It’s been a lovely day.“ Even the last days of her life, she was telling each of us how much she loved us. She made each child feel that he or she was her special one! There are not enough words to describe our love and affection for our beautiful mother: kind, compassionate, Godly, honorable, witty, honest. She had a great love for her country. Mother was so much fun, and we loved being with her. Piling in the van and off we’d go to birthday parties, luncheons, shopping. Any reason to celebrate, we took her everywhere we went. We thank you, Jesus, for allowing us to be a part of this beautiful and incredible woman’s life! To God be the glory, great things He hath done! This world has lost a truly great woman, and the family will remember her loving ways forever.

Join us for a Praise Celebration in memory of our Mother’s life. The family will receive visitors from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2002, at Mercer-Adams. Services will be held at Bethany First Nazarene Church at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2002, followed by interment at Bethany Cemetery.
