He graduated from Corning High School and farmed in Mercer Township until his retirement in 1980. On June 10, 1940, he married Clara Belle Pendleton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother, one sister, a daughter Mary Hogan Olive, and one grandchild.
He is survived by his children John A. Hogan and wife Kathy of Prescott, Pat Bissell of Corning, Sharon Bissen and husband Ted of Galesburg, Ill., Marcella Gearheart and husband Phil of Corning, Helen Chute and husband Donald of Petaluma, Calif., Theresa Durkin of Des Moines, Cathy Luther and husband Alan of Urbandale, and Jackie Brandon of Seattle, Wash; two sisters, Tillie Curry of Red Oak and Helen Bond of Roseville, Calif., 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 22 at Saint Patrick Catholic Church with the Rev. John O. Bertogli officiating. Casket bearers were Rob Larson, Dick Luther, Jamie Hogan, Rick Bissell, Chris Bissell and Richard Hogan. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Coen-Beaty Funeral Home In charge of the arrangements.
