From the Palmer (Nebraska) Journal, October 20, 1927, page 10, transcribed by Linda Berney:

Former Gage Valley Man Passes Away in Idaho -

A telegram was received here Sunday announcing the death of Abe Colborn, at Lava Springs, Idaho.

At one time there was not a better known man in Gage Valley, than Abe Colborn. He came to this state with his parents, when he was a small boy. While not one of the very first threshermen in this neighborhood, he helped run a machine for years before the horse power had passed out, and later operated a steam thresher.

For many years Mr. Colborn owned the farm upon which the Gage Valley school house now stands. He and his wife were well known by all our older readers, but we did not call them Mr. and Mrs. Colborn. They were just Jennie and Abe, and they were jolly, hard working, good feeling folks, whom it was a pleasure to know.

At one time Abe ran the livery barn and operated a dray line here. That was when a livery and feed barn was a paying business.

Several years ago they moved to Idaho, where they have since made their home. A few years ago they were here on a visit, and we thought it remarkable how well both seemed to be.
