SPRINGHILL, LA - Funeral services for Mr. Robert Franklin Hood, age 93, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the Kings Corner Assembly of God with Rev. Jeff Manuel and Rev. Andy Harris officiating. Burial will be in the Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill, LA.
Mr. Hood, a lifelong resident of this area, died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 in Monroe, LA. Mr. Hood was a faithful member of the Kings Corner Assembly of God church where he served as the church secretary for many years. He served as secretary for the Prime Timers Church Group and as secretary for the Men's Fellowship Church Group. Mr. Hood exemplifies the characteristic of a true volunteer. He was a retired accountant office manager with International Paper Company. He had recently received the lifetime achievement award from the Louisiana Credit Union League and was a Union supporter for more than 50 years and had served on the Board of Directors of Carter Federal Credit Union.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Norval Peters Hood on May 14, 2009; his parents, Bynum F. and Lucia Perry Hood and a sister, Margie Ree Hood Torres.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Earl "Bob" and Kaye Hood of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland; grandchildren, Cindy Hood-Siegal and husband, Stuart; Jeff Hoof, Heather England, and Scott Neuenhahn; great-grandchildren, Leighton, Camden, Ashley and Zachary; brother, James Troy Hood and wife, Frances, of Monroe, LA; sister, Opal Hood Nickerson and husband, Ardis of Tyler, TX; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be deacons of Kings Corner Assembly of God.
The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Bailey Mortuary.
