ABBAS, VIRGINIA P.
Virginia P. Abbas, age 77 of Newberry, FL. passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2009 in Gainesville, FL. She was born in Pennsylvania on June 1, 1932. Virginia was a graduate of the Clarion State University in Pennsylvania. She worked as a librarian for the University of Pittsburgh and retired from the Wappingers Falls School District in New York, and volunteered for the Alachua County "Friends of the Library" in Gainesville. She was preceded in death by a daughter Cindy Patton Abbas and is survived by her husband of 53 years Dr. Shakir A. Abbas, daughters Miriam Engle of Troy, NY and Kathleen Peace of Gloversville, NY, a son William Abbas of Sanford, FL., and her three grandchildren Diana Brower, Daniel Abbas and Emily Abbas. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the 11:00 AM Funeral Service on Wednesday October 14, 2009 at the Milam Funeral Home Chapel in Newberry, FL. Interment will follow in Newberry Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to UNICEF.
