Construction Supervisor

Keith Willard Goolsby Sr., 79, a retired construction supervisor who was active in the Lions Club and veterans organizations, died Sept. 17 at his home in Heritage Harbour in Annapolis. He had Alzheimer's disease.

He was a native of Albemarle, Va., and served in the Navy aboard submarines in the Atlantic during World War II. He worked for the J.A. LaPorte Inc. construction company for 35 years before retiring in 1984.

Mr. Goolsby, a former resident of Camp Springs, was a member of the South Gate-Clinton Lions Club and lieutenant governor of a regional district in the 1980s. He received the highest service award of Lions International, the Melvin Jones Award.

He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the U.S. Submarine Veterans Association, the Elks in Annapolis and Local 77 of the International Union of Operating Engineers. His interests included fishing and gardening.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Audrey Hanbury Goolsby of Annapolis; three children, Keith W. Goolsby Jr. of Prince Frederick, Rebecca M. Stiles of Burnsville, N.C., and Susan G. Stevens of Annapolis; 10 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
