Thomas Fonda, 70, retired merchant, died yesterday at his home, 2 Parkwood boulevard, after an illness of one week. The funeral will be held in the home at 4 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. The body will be placed in the Vale cemetery vault. Burial will be held in the spring in Fonda. Rev. George F. Bambach, rector of St. George's Church, will be in charge of the service. Mr. Fonda was born in Fonda, the son of Douw Fonda, who was for many years the principal business man and public official in Fonda. Mr. Fonda lived most of his life in New York, where he conducted a general merchandise business. He had lived in this city five years. He was a member of St. George's Church.
