"Thomas Frank moved from Gray to Poland. One of his children was Whitney Frank - my Grandfather. Other children included John, James, Henrietta, Betsy, Weston (the youngest - Weston died in New York around 1919), Royal Thaxter (oldest), David, Zachariah and Thomas Jr. I had the whole family register but it burned-up when my place burned. Thomas Frank was a farmer and a woodsman. He didn't have a beard. I've seen a picture of him. He was smaller than his son. A strong and able man. His house foundation sits on an old discontinued road near the Little Androscoggin. He looked like my father but was lighter - perhaps weighing 180 pounds."
- Leroy W. Frank, Interview 1989.

During the War of 1812 Thomas Frank served as a Private in Capt Ichabod Reynolds' Co. of Col Cyrus Clark's 3rd Regiment of Massachusetts Militia. This unit was called into service at Gray, Sept. 13, 1814, and discharged at Portland, Sept. 24, 1814.

Thomas married first in 1812, Lucy Small of Gray and second, in 1867, the twice widowed Statira P. (Hight) (Barker) Fogg. Lucy died in 1863 and is buried alongside her husband. Statira died in 1901. Her place of burial is not known.

Thomas Frank's top hat was in the family for many years. [It may have been destroyed in the fire in Poland]. The "Weston" mentioned by my grandfather was Alpheus Weston Frank who went by his middle name. Weston moved to New York and married twice. He died in NY in a home for the aged at age 88 in 1920. My grandfather probably thought he was the "youngest" because he outlived all his siblings but the youngest was actually Betsy (or Bessie) Jane Frank who was born in 1836. Certainly my grandfather heard of Weston's death in New York in the 1920. Grampa left Elenor out of his list and also a female child who first appears on the 1820 census and who is gone by the 1840 census. Lucy (Small) Frank's obituary states she had a total of 12 children, four of whom pre-deceased her. Of her known children Royal T, Henrietta, and David died before Lucy in 1863. The fourth daughter has not yet been identified.
