William Bradley joined the 40th Wisconsin Infantry, Company D, on 5/17/1864. He was "mustered out", on 9/16/1864.

Bradley was the Chief Engineer with the Madison Fire Department.

On 6/26/1881, Bradley was in a boat on Lake Mendota, when he was "seized with a fit" (as the Stevens Point Daily Journal described it), and fell into the lake, and drowned.
