Elza Connel Kimberling age 51 years, while trying to manage a team of runaway mules near Baxter Springs Kansas, last Monday, was thrown in front of the wagon, which ran over him, crushing his breast and liver, from the effects of which he died an hour later. He had just accepted employment as a driller from Jim Moxley, and had gone to Baxter with a team of young mules for a drill rig. The mules became frightened at a passing motorcycle, and started to run away. They were unmanageable, and in his efforts to stop them, he was pulled off the front end of the wagon, falling under the wheels which ran over his body, crushing his life out as related above. He lived long enough to state his name, where he lived and make the request that the C.O.D. meat market be phoned and his family notified.

He lived on C street southwest, and was a well known hard rock lead and zinc drill man in the district. A wife, Della M. Kimberling, and two children survive him. He also had two brothers, traveling men, one living at Bentonville, and one at Muskogee Oklahoma, also a sister at Little Rock Arkansas.

Millner and Frible's undertaking, of Miami, auto hearse went out to Baxter Monday evening and brought the body to this city. On Tuesday the remains were taken across country to Grove Oklahoma where the Frisco was boarded for Bentonville Arkansas, where deceased’s father and mother are buried. The remains will be buried beside his parents after a funeral service at that place.

Deceased was a member of the Knights and Ladies, of Security, of which order he was president. He carried $1000 insurance in that order. He was also a member of the K. of P. lodge of this city, now extinct. He carried some accident insurance with Frank J. Bertholf and some insurance in the Mutual Aid.
