Casca DeWitt Beachum was the fourth of eight children born to David Leonidas Beachum (1854-1919) and his wife Elizabeth Irene "Bettie" Austin (1860-1948). He was twice married, first to Hazel Ford and second to Viola Lyons. He was an engineer with the railroad. He lived in Raleigh, but died of a heart attack in a N. Wilkesboro hospital.
