LOGAN: Kenneth Learoy Martin, 90 years 11 months and 22 days, of Logan, Ohio, passed away October 9, 2009 at Chillicothe Veterans Hospital in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Kenneth was born October 17, 1918, in New Straitsville, Ohio to George Kenneth Martin and Fanny Mae Malone Martin. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II; was a coal miner in the New Straitsville and Murray City area for 14 years, retired from Alten Machine Shop, was a 60 year member of the Pentecostal Church, 30 year member of the First Church Praise and Worship Center in Logan, Ohio and a member of the American Legion and the Logan D. A. V.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Wanda Marie (Wallace) Martin; sons, Kenneth Owen (Sandra) Martin of Sardinia, Ohio, Michael Lynn (Patsy) Martin of Logan; daughter, Janice Marie Baker of Logan; daughter-in-law, Sharon Martin of Hebron, Ohio; grandchildren, Tammy, Jerry, Kimberley, Laura, Rebel, Kelley, Kenni, Wendy, Robin, Michael, Jana, Denise and Denny; 29 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jerry Martin; brothers, John, George, Lawrence, Lester Martin and Harold Martin; and sisters, Bessie Davis and Nellie Thompson.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at the First Church Praise and Worship Center in Logan, with Rev. Michael L. Martin officiating.

Burial will be at the New Straitsville Cemetery, New Straitsville, Ohio. Military graveside service will be conducted by Hocking County Honor Guard.

Calling hours are Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home in Logan and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
