Mrs. Sarah Swartwout, widow of Minard Swartwout, died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. P. Lowerre, thirty-eight Sproat street. She was born in Ferndale, July fifteenth, 1864, a daughter of William and Catherine Babcock Demerest. Mrs. Swartwout was a member of the Methodist Church of Monticello.
Surviving relatives are two daughters, Bertha, wife of C. P. Lowerre of Middletown; Mary, wife of Lionel Shadbolt of Highland; a son, Otis Swarthout of Monticello; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at two o'clock in the Methodist Church at Harris with the Rev. James A. Brimelow officiating. Interment will be in Harris.
