Funeral services for David L. Brower were held March 3, 2006, at Memorial United Methodist Church in Winona with Rev. Tom McCallister, Rev. W.V. Kemp and Dr. Harold Richardson officiating. Burial was held at Coffeeville City Cemetery in Coffeeville with Oliver Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Brower, 68, of Winona, died of heart failure February 28, 2006, at North Miss. Medical Center in Tupelo. Born May 15, 1937 in Coffeeville to Harold and Johnnye Brower, he was a 1959 graduate of the University of Mississippi. He graduated from the School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University. He began his banking career as manager of the Potts Camp Bank. He was elected president of the Bank of Winona in 1987 and retired in December 1991. He was a member of Moore Memorial United Methodist Church in Winona, holding many positions including chairman of the official board, lay leader, Sunday School teacher, and delegate to annual conference. He was associated with the Potts Camp Lions Club, Holly Springs Jaycees, and Winona Rotary Club. He taught banking classes for Holmes Community College and the University of Mississippi.

Mr. Brower was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold M. Brower.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Betty Bowen Brower of Winona; daughter, Pam Hammond and husband, Ronald, of Winona; son, John David Brower and wife, Laura, of Tupelo; grandchildren, David Louis Hammond, Christen Brower, Jack Brower, Nathan Davis, Lauren Davis; four sisters-in law and two brothers-in-law.

Pallbearers were Stanley Devine, Karl Oliver, Mickey Austin, Mark Austin, Harry Neal, Henry Allman, Jack Marshall and Frank Ballard. Honorary Pallbearers, John Killebrew, Bobby Trussell, James E. Oliver, John Kendrick, Alvin Black, Ken Powell, Jerry Hoover, Aubrey Boone, Chut Billingsley, Mary McMillan, Eddie Hammond, Wiley Prewitt, Warren Sanders and Mike Jones.
