HOCKENSMITH, Leslie Gail Born July 23, 1957, in Lancaster, Calif. Passed away Oct. 1, 2009, in Lancaster, Calif. She grew up in Lancaster and attended Antelope Valley High and A.V. College. She was a licensed vocational nurse. Her last employment was for Dr. Lawrence Newman in Lancaster. She loved music (she knew every song that was ever written) and she was a terrific dancer, enjoyed needlepoint and tole painting, decorating (she really had a nack for decorating a house), gardening, rockcollecting and beading. Leslie's
favorite trips were to Big Bear and the Redwoods. She loved the plantscaping job that she had in Huntington Beach, this job was a pleasure more than a job. She is survived by her mother Mary L. Hockensmith of Lancaster, Calif., brother Randy Hockensmith, her former husband and dear friend Dale E. Balster, adopted aunt Shirley M. Pace of Lancaster, adopted aunt and uncle Betty and Bill Campbell of Clifton, Texas, aunt and uncle Norma and Harley Penrose of Castro Valley, aunt and uncle Vivian and Ed Johnson of Nipomo, especially loved grand niece Sydney Louise Maish, grand nephew Joshua Robert Maish, her best friends Heather Kent and Julia Dumke, many cousins. Preceded in death by her father Robert E. Hockensmith, grandparents Andrew and Maye Callaghan, Scott and Mary Hockensmith, aunt Andrea Callaghan, aunt and uncle Mary and Bob Willhite. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, Lancaster.
