"William A. Owens, 62, of Tiffin, died at 4:51 a.m., Friday, October 9, 2009, at the St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

William was born on April 25, 1947, in Shelby, NC, to Cletus P. and Annie Fay (Sanders) Owens. He married Nancy Ann (Miller) in Shelby, NC on July 18, 1970 and she survives.

William is survived by his mother Annie Fay Owens of Shelby, NC, daughters, Christina (Adam) Reese and Cynthia Renee Owens both of Bozeman, MT. He is also survived by two brothers, Joe (Wanda) Owens, Cletus P. (Jo Anne) Owens Jr., two sisters, Irene (Norris) Willis, Mary (Ronnie) Hull all of North Carolina, and his extended family, mother-in-law, Mary L. Miller of Tiffin, brothers-in-laws, Charles D. Miller of Tiffin, Larry Miller of Tiffin, Gary Miller of Columbus, sisters-in-laws, Louise (Robert) Scaife of Tiffin, Loretta Miller of Tiffin, Marietta (Kenneth) Estep of Tiffin, Linda (David) Karcher of Carey, and a granddaughter, Samantha Ann Reese of Bozeman, MT.

William worked as an EMT in North Carolina and worked for National Machinery and most recently worked at American Fine Sinter here in Tiffin. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church where he served on church council and played Dartball with the Tiffin Church League. He also was a member of the National Machinery campers club and was involved with the Boy Scouts. William was a United States Army Veteran serving during Vietnam and was a 1966 graduate of the Burns High School in Fallston, North Carolina.

William was preceded in death by his father, a sister, Louise Adams and a sister-in-law, Patricia Oberst.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Brodbeck officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 4-7 p.m., at the Engle-Shook Funeral Home in Tiffin. Burial will follow the services on Tuesday at Seneca Memory Gardens with military honor's being rendered by the United Veterans Council.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Lutheran Church or the Hope Lodge in Cleveland in c/o Engle-Shook Funeral Home, 135 N. Washington St., Tiffin, OH, 44883 (419) 447-1221."
