The funeral for Annie Margaret Wear Pepper, 88, of Athens will be at 2 p.m. today at Bethel Church of Christ with Jimmy Clark and Nesbitt Sanford officiating. Tim Pepper will lead an a cappella congregational singing. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.Visitation is from noon until 2 p.m. today at the church.Mrs. Pepper died Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at home.Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Pepper Sanford and son-in-law Nesbitt Sanford of Scottsboro; sons, John Oscar Pepper and daughter-in-law Patricia Pepper of Athens, Bobby Lewis Pepper and daughter-in-law Monica Pepper of Fairhope; brothers, Gilbert D. Wear of Spokane, Wash., and Kenneth W. Wear of Mobile; nine grandchildren, Troy Neill Pepper of Athens, Gay Pepper Ostrowski of Forest, Va., Holly Pepper Weigle of Kamuela, Hawaii, Tyson Pepper of Birmingham, Kevin Pepper of Melbourne, Fla., Amy Sanford Roebuck of Ft. Payne, Ala., Joel Sanford of Henderson, Tenn., and Joli Sanford Palmer of Henager; 10 great-grandchildren, Robert T. Ostrowski Jr., John Henry Ostrowski, Hunter Weigle, Sophia Weigle, Madeline Weigle, Savannah Palmer, Jordan Palmer, Rivers Palmer, Abigail Sanford and Lily Sanford.Mrs. Pepper was born Dec. 20, 1920, in Decatur to Oscar James Wear and Auburne Wear Wear. Mrs. Pepper was married for 56 years to Paul Lewis Pepper until his death in 1997.She was a faithful Christian and member of the Bethel Church of Christ. She enjoyed crocheting and nurturing many plants and flowers in her yard. She was a quiet, gentle woman whose heart was open to all, especially young children. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.Mrs. Pepper was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Lewis Pepper, her sister, Sue Wear Clark; and one great-granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Sanford.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Church of Christ Cemetery Fund, 25815 U.S. 72 East, Athens, AL 35613.Pallbearers will be Jimmy Adams, Billy Fred Pepper, McKenzie Pepper, Tyson Pepper, Chris Preston and Joel Sanford.
