Survived by his sons: James (Sharon) Andersen of Fremont, and their children, Matt, Shelly, Jaime and Andrea, and Thomas (Eileen) Andersen of Helena, and their children, Karrie, Roland, and Clifford. He also had
13 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife in 1971, his parents, two sisters and a brother.

John Halvor Andersen, 94, passed away early Saturday morning, Oct. 3, 2009.
John was born on Dec. 19, 1914, in Ruskin, Neb., to Neils and Pearl Andersen. He graduated from high school in Nora, Neb. He served in the CCC in Nebraska and the Black Hills in South Dakota from 1935 to 1938. John served in the Army in World War II from 1941 to 1944 and was stationed in Panama and Europe.
On April 22, 1943, he married Dorothea Frahm, and they had two sons. He worked several jobs while raising his family. John lost his wife in 1971 and moved to Townsend in 1980.
John loved gardening and woodworking, and shared many garden veggies and bird houses with family, friends and neighbors. He watched all kinds of sports but especially loved baseball. He also was a great pinochle player and enjoyed games at family gatherings. He later moved to Helena, where he resided at the Eagles Manor. He fed the squirrels, grew tomatoes in pots, and enjoyed the other residents for several years.
Due to failing health he moved to the Masonic Home where he cared deeply for the staff that gave him wonderful care. He was an American Legion member for more than 65 years; most of the time was with Post #159 at Cedar Bluffs, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two sisters; and a brother.
He is survived by his sons, James (Sharon) Andersen and their children, Matt, Shelly, Jaime and Andrea; Thomas (Eileen) Andersen and their children, Karrie, Roland and Clifford; he also has 13 great-grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed!
