Daniel Hardy Wallace, 85, a prominent retired merchant of the Verda community, died in a Winnfield hospital Monday at 1:30 p.m. after a long illness.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Verda Baptist Church with the Rev. Phillip Tisdale and the Rev. W. H. Mott officiating. Burial was in the Verda Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Acting as pallbearers were Preston Wallace, Frank Fletcher, L. B. Dubois, Teal Calhoun, Tommy Harrison, and A. L. Seward.

A native of Mississippi, Mr. Wallace had lived nearly all his life in the Verda community, where he had taken an active part in church and civic activities.

Survivors include his widow; three daughters, Mrs. J. L. Worsham, Winnfield; Mrs. Verdun Heinsohn of Shreveport; Mrs. J. B. Johnson of Verda; one son, C. D. of Odessa, Texas; a sister, Mrs. J. L. Calhoun of Winnfield; and 17
grandchildren.
