WILLIAM McCAMMON

William Edward McCammon, 80, died Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was born February 14, 1934 in Yalobusha County, Miss., to the late Richard Thomas and Alma Lorene Redwine McCammon.

He worked most of his life in the construction business and enjoyed tinkering and fixing things. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling and farming and was a faithful member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church in Calhoun County, Miss.

Funeral service was Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Turkey Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Charles Fitts officiating. Burial was in Turkey Creek Church Cemetery with Jamie McCammon11, Jonathan McCammon, Chris McCammon, Eddie McCammon, Bobby Goodwin and Craig Goodwin serving as pallbearers. Jim Brogden was an honorary pallbearer.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Jean Head McCammon, Water Valley, Miss.; daughter, Alma (Bobby) Goodwin, Water Valley, Miss.; three sons, Jamie (Shirley) McCammon, Mike (Glenda) McCammon and Eddie (Trish) McCammon, all of Water Valley, Miss.; four sisters, Maybelle Fisk, Grenada, Miss.; Louise Potts, Hickory Flat, Miss. Vivian Washington, Pontotoc, Miss., and Minnie (Jim) Brogden, Barlett, Tenn.;four brothers, Thomas (Barbara) McCammon, Bruce, Miss.; Elton (Margie Sue)McCammon, Coffeeville, Miss.; Cecil (Gaye) Edward McCammon, Houston, Miss., and Jimmy (Dianne) Luther McCammon, Houlka, Miss.; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Clay Allen McCammon and his brother, Tip McCammon.
