Jerry M. Janssen died at his farm home, two miles north of Sibley, on New Year's Day, after an illness of about two years from Cancer. He had lived in Osceola County for more than thirty years, had reared a large family, and was a substantial citizen.

Jerry M. Janssen was born in Warsingsfehn, East Friesland, Germany, July 31, 1865, where he grew to young manhood. In 1885, he came to Osceola County, where he has since farmed. On March 12, 1896, he was married to Fannie Voss, of Little Rock, Iowa, who survives him, as do nine children born to this union. They are: M.C., Worthington; Albert, Reading; Cornelius, Edward, Mrs. Henry Weets, Sibley; Jerry, Bertha, Mable, and Ida, at home. A sister, Miss Fannie Janssen of Aplington also survives.

Mr. Janssen was a member of the Presbyterian Church. The funeral was held at the home yesterday afternoon, followed by services at the Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. J. A. Rotschafeer of Sibley and the Rev. A. E. Drake of Ashton. The large attendance at the funeral bore witness of the position of esteem he held with his many friends. Burial was in the Sibley cemetery.
