George Aston Crabtree, 90, widely known native Salt Lake resident, died Saturday at 8:45 a.m. in a Salt Lake hospital of causes incident to age.
Mr. Crabtree lived with a son, Marlow L. Crabtree, Murray.
Mr. Crabtree was born Aug. 14, 1859 in Salt Lake City, a son of Charles and Elizabeth Aston Crabtree, early Utah pioneers. At the age of 11 Mr. Crabtree went to work for Brigham Young as a chore boy. In early manhood he worked as a mule car driver for Salt Lake City Street Railroad Co.
For 57 years Mr. Crabtree was employed by the Bennett Paint and glass Co., retiring 12 years ago as a driector.
Mrs. Crabtree married Alice Poll Oct. 20, 1881. She died in December, 1916.
Survivors include his son, four daughters, Mrs. Alice c. Rupper, Mrs. Ethel C. Blain, Mrs. Vera L. Williams, Mrs. Afton C. Thomas, all Salt Lake City; 25 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 12:15p.m. at 36 E 7th South, with Merlin J. Shaw, bishop of South Cottonwood ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in charge. Friends may call Sunday from 4 until 9 p.m., Monday between 6 an d9 p.m. and Tuesday prior to services. Burial will be in the city cemetery.
