POTSDAM — Funeral services for Lillian May Kirkey, 87, Rt. 4, Potsdam, were held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Newman Center, the Msgr. William Argy officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.

Memorial donations may be made to the coronary care unit of the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

Mrs. Kirkey died Sunday, Feb. 6, 1983, at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where she had been a patient for two weeks.

Surviving are four sons, Wilfred, Massena, Lawrence, California, Gerald, Potsdam, and Robert, Poughkeepsie; nine daughters, Mrs. Willis (Bernice) Root, Irene McAloon and Mrs. James (Alice) LaPage, all of Massena, Mrs. Manuel (Ellen) Carrira and Mrs. John (Mary) Galabaly, both of California, Mrs. Loomis (Viola) Morris, North Carolina, Mrs. Roger (Elizabeth) Barney and Mrs. Alois (Joyce) Zoromski, both of Virginia, and Patricia Reynolds, Syracuse; 61 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was predeceased by a son, Harold; and a daughter, Kathlyn Keese.

Mrs. Kirkey was born in Mill Rouche, Ont. on Aug. 8, 1895, daughter of Henry and Mary Carey Clement. She married Melvin Kirkey on July 2, 1913 in the Sacred Heart Church in Massena with the Rev. Fitzgerald officiating. Mr. Kirkey died on April 20, 1946.

She worked as a cook at the Massena Memorial Hospital, the Capri Restaurant and the Adams Restaurant in Massena, and for the Carmelite Fathers in Auburn. For the past 15 years, she resided with her son, Gerald, in Potsdam.

Mrs. Kirkey was a charter member of the Massena Moose Lodge, a member of the Royal Neighbors and the Senior Citizens in Massena and St. Mary's Church in Potsdam.
