She was born on Aug. 4, 1915, in Pomme de Terre Township in Grant County, to Jacob and Anna (Beck) Haberer. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Pomme de Terre Township and attended the township country school.
On Aug. 27, 1939, she was married to Cam Strunk at Christ Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Pomme de Terre Township until 1943, when they moved to the Strunk farm in Land Township, and began attending Zion Lutheran Church in Hoffman. In addition to being a homemaker, mother, and farmer, Mrs. Strunk was well-known for her garden. Having taught herself, she was a "gardener's gardener." She also was an accomplished pianist who served as an church accompanist. She was a member of the Homemaker's Club and Garden Club in Hoffman and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She lead the Happy Landers 4-H club for many years and was a skilled quilter. The couple loved to travel; they visited every state in the U.S.A., except for Hawaii and Alaska, and traveled to Europe twice, making special trips to Germany, her father's birthplace.
Survivors include her children, David (Sharon) of Hoffman, Keith (Jill) of Minnetonka, Carole Jean (David) Nibbe of Madison, and John (Pirjo) of Farmington; grandchildren, Renae Strunk, Steven Strunk, Kurt Strunk, Angle Strunk, Kirby Stunk, Kent (Jammi) Strunk, Kyle (Suzzi) Strunk, Jay Nibbe, Dawn (Lorne) Guse, Jeffrey (Alissa) Nibbe, Pia Strunk, and Michael Strunk; a sister-in-law, Delite Haberer; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cam; her brothers and sisters, Arnold, Rose, Amanda and George; and a granddaughter, Kara.
