Funeral services were held for Leonard Oscar Anderson of Chisago City, on Saturday, March 19 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Chisago City, Minnesota. Becoming suddenly ill on Sunday evening, he was taken to the Northern Pacific Hospital in St. Paul, where his condition was critical, finally succumbing onThursday afternoon, March 17. He was 71 years old.

Mr. Anderson was born and raised in this community and as a young man started working for the Northern Pacific Railroad in whose employ he served for about 50 years until his retirement a few years ago. He was depot agent in Chisago City, Moose Lake and Cloquet, Minnesota and for a time served at Grantsburg, WI. He was married to Hilma Carlson in 1900. She preceded his in death in 1925. He was later united in marriage in oAmburnette Carlson in 1930 who passed away less than 2 years ago.

Mr.Anderson is survived by three daughters,Mrs. C. J. Healy of Chatfield, Minn, Mrs. C.C. Westlund of Center City and Joyce of Chisago City. He is survived also by 3 sisters, Mrs. H. W. Lindgren of Center City, Miss Edna Anderson and Minnie Anderson of Chisago City. Four grandchildren also survive him. Mr. Anderson was highly respected by all who knew him, taking an active part in the welfare of his community and church. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Chisago City,for many years where he was a faithful memberand at one time served as Church Treasurer and a member of the Board of Administration. In addition to many beautifull floral tributes to his memory, there were also a number of memorial gifts for missions and other benevolence causes. Rev Elmer P Sahlgren officiated at the service, fitting songs were sung by Mrs. Arthur Peterson.
