"Former head of real estate firm Gregg Andrews, 85.

Gregg Andrews, 85, former president of Andrews Inc., a real estate investment firm in Minneapolis, died Thursday [January 7] at the Walker Health Care Center in Minneapolis.

Mr. Andrews, formerly of Edina, had been in the nursing home for five years.

He was born and raised in Minneapolis. His father, Woodbury, started Andrews Inc., which owns warehouses, office buildings and apartment houses in Minneapolis and St. Paul.

He graduated from the old Marshall High School and attended Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., and the University of Minnesota. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

He became president of the family business when his father died in 1945. He also was president of Burlington Holding Co., another investment business.

He was a member of the board of directors of MEI Inc., Marquette Bank, the W.F. Andrews Co., St Anthony Holding Co. and Carver-Fisk Inc. He was a member of the Minikahda Club, the Minneapolis Club, the Minneapolis Athletic Club and the Edina Country Club.

"He was always helping people out, like Little Sisters of the Poor," said his daughter Susan Jepson, of Naples, Fla., and Edina.

He was a trustee of Breck School and donated money to Colonial Church of Edina.

His wife, Berniece, died in 1985. Besides his daughter Susan, he is survived by daughters Polly Angeli, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Betsy Andrews, of Excelsior, a sister, Jean Bergquist, of Bloomington; a brother, Robert, of Wayzata; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

Services will be held at 10:30 a. m. Tuesday at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Av. S., Minneapolis. Memorials to Little Sisters of the Poor, the Alzheimer's Research' Center or the charity of the donor's choice are suggested. Arrangement are by the Washburn McReavy Welander-Quist-Davies Funeral Chapel."
