He married Anna Adelia Bada in 1909. They were the parents of Ardath Long (of Olympia, Wash.) and Creda Catherine Long (Mrs. Harold Witt of Glendale, California).
The couple lived on a farm south of Silver City until 1934 when they moved to Silver City. Emery served as Mayor for several terms.
