Harold L. Burdett, 72, of 1226 S. Ferry St., died Oct. 6, 2009, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.He was born Oct. 21, 1936, in Davis County near Drakesville to Raymond Edward and Eva Gladys Albright Burdett. He married Donna Jean Benge Oct. 7, 1956.A graduate of Bloomfield High School, he worked for 30 years for the city of Ottumwa, retiring in 1997.He was a member of Living Hope Bible Church.Surviving is his wife, Donna Jean; two daughters, Sherry (John) Lopshire of Ottumwa and Cindy (Gary) Mathews of Bonney Lake, Wash.; a son, Randy (Kathy) Burdett of Ottumwa; five grandchildren, Josh Lopshire, Rachel (Brandon) Ingalls, Jenny Burdett, Jamie Burdett and Sadie Mathews; three great-grandchildren, River and Christian Lopshire and Madison Ingalls; a sister, LaVelle Kirby and her companion Norman Burk of Callao, Mo.He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Hazel Downing.Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home; Pastor David Albert of Living Hope Bible Church officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
