Frances L. Crocker, one of four children born to Leo and Sabra Mazie (Potter) Spitzmiller, was born October 8, 1906 south of Attica. She passed away Sunday, October 4, 2009 at the Attica Long Term Care at the age of 102 years.

The family moved to Oklahoma for a short time, then returned to Attica in a covered wagon. Her family later bought a Model T. She remembers the wars, beginning with World War I, when two of her uncles served. The family raised chickens and grew most of their own food.

She attended the Attica schools, graduating with the class of 1927.

In 1928, Frances was united in marriage with Clayton Crocker and this union was blessed with five children. She spent her life raising her children. In later years, she and Clayton traveled the United States and Canada. She loved to garden, crochet and volunteer at the Annex for Bible Study. Frances remained in her home in Attica until 2004 when she moved into the Attica Long Term Care Facility.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clayton; daughter, Naomi Whelan; two grandsons: Greg Gill and Jim Mock; and her two brothers and one sister.
