Obituary for William A Bess

"Once more, the angel of death has entered our midst and removed one of our loved and respected neighbors. But while our hearts are bowed in sorrow we bow our heads in
submission, 'Thy will be done.'

William Alexander Bess passed away very suddenly at his home on State Street last Friday night. The deceased was born in Jackson County, Ohio July 26, 1838, died December
14, 1906, aged 68 years, 4 months, 18 days. He was married November 3, 1863 to Miss Lucretia Nail of Jackson County,
Ohio.

He leaves his widow, nine children and twenty-eight grandchildren to mourn his departure. The surving children are Mrs. Harry Taylor of Cedar Grove, West Virginia, Mrs. Edward Woods and Silas Bess of Drakes, Mrs.Edward West, Mrs.Florence Sherlock and Mrs.Thomas Clayton of Crooksville, J.H.Bess of Saginaw, Michigan, Henry and Charles of the home.

Mr. Bess served three years in the Civil War, having been a member of Company H Heavy Artillery of Ohio. The United Mine Workers attended funeral in a body of tribute of respect to their deceased brother. Funeral services were conducted from the home by Rev. A.Carroll Shaw of the Church of Christ.

The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the family."
