Fred (Fridolin) Adam was born in Sasbachreid, Baden, Germany 12 Sept 1840. He immigrated to America on the ship Tampico leaving from LeHavre, France and arriving in New York on May 29, 1867. He settled in St. Louis, Missouri where he was united in marriage to Frances Goss (who was a passenger on the same ship)on 12 Aug 1867. From this union there were eight children born, two having preceded him in death. In the year 1871 they came to Kansas, settling in Parkerville where he worked as a shoemaker before moving to farming. When they left the farm, moved to Latimer and later to Herington where he resided until death, which occurred January 29, 1926. He was a cheerful, loving husband and father. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, three sons and three daughters, twenty-four grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the St John's Catholic Church, and interment at the Catholic Cemetery.
