James Desire Roberts was the son of Joseph Roberts and Mary Jane Stewart. The name Desire was the name of his maternal grandfather, Desire L. Stewart.

James and Rachel T. Crenshaw were married the 16 Jan 1879, Bk. G, Pg. 202, in Clarke County, Alabama, they were married in the home of Nathan Jackson Etheridge, Rachels stepfather. James and Rachel were the parents of seven children.

James was baptised August 14, 1870 at Forest Springs Baptist church in Clarke County, Alabama. He was dismissed by letter December 21, 1889, he moved his letter to Beaver Creek Church, Marengo County, Alabama close to where he had purchased his land. James died a little over six months after he became a member of Beaver Creek Baptist church in the Beaver Creek Community.
It is possible that James was buried on his own land or in a neighboring cemetery. The cemetery in Beaver Creek was not in existence when James died.
After his death, Rachel, his wife, moved back to rejoin Forest Springs Baptist Church in March of 1891. It is even possible that he is buried there. Neither Rachel nor any of his children are buried close to Beaver Creek. Most probably James is in an unmarked grave on his own farm land. I am working on this 3/6/2022. Jo Roberts.
