Obituary Mt. Carmel Morning Register August 23, 1910
Prominent Allendale Man Dead of Appendicitis.
Mr. C.D. Morgan Victim of Disease which Baffled Physicians From the Start-One of Wabash County's Very Best Citizens
The sad information came from Allendale Monday morning of the death of mr. C.D. Morgan, one of Wabash precinct's most prominent farmers. Mr. Morgan had been ill of appendicitis since Thursday of last week, mention of which was made in Saturday morning's Register.
From the start the disease assumed an agressive form, which refused to yield to treatment and in spite of his robust health, Mr. Morgan rapidly grew worse until Sunday afternoon when a surgical operation was deemed necessary and this was resorted to. Dr. Charles Webber of Olney and Drs. John McIntosh and C.E. Gilliat of Allendale, being in charge, but no relief was afforded and Mr. Morgan died about 4:30 o'clock Monday morning.
He was a man in middle life, of the highest character, and his word was as good as his bond. Few men possessed more friends than "Dug" Morgan. His wife and four children survive him. Funeral services will be held at the home north of Allendale at 10 o'clock. Elder J.F. Moyer conducting the services, and the body will be taken to Lick Prairie, the former home of Mr. Morgan, where burial will be made.
