COLUMBIA — Funeral services for A. R. Volentine Sr., 79, of Grayson, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Riser and Son Funeral Home of Columbia, with the Rev. John Gould officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery near Grayson.

Mr. Volentine died Thursday at the Columbia Heights Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Katie Bell Volentine of Grayson; four daughters, Mrs. Ruby Manley of Columbia, Mrs. Mildred Braddock of Monroe, Mrs. Berlon Allen of Richmond, Calif. and Mrs. Alene Ferrington of Kelly; three sons, Arvil Volentine of Bridge City, Tex., Richard Volentine Jr. of West Monroe and Cecil Volentine of Fortuna, Calif.; a brother, George Volentine of New Orleans; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Mercer of West Monroe and Mrs. W. B. Douglas of Grayson; 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
