Thamer was one of fourteen children of James & Ruth (Dauge) Gregory. They lived in Pasquotank County, NC and later in adjacent Camden & Currituck Counties in NC.

The dates for birth and death are unknown. Thamer was born between 1750-75. She died between Feb 1789 - Aug 1795.

Thamer married William Forbes son of Caleb & Mary (Smithson) Forbes.

The couple had seven children before Thamer died.

1. Lydia, d. aft May 1802, married an Evans
2. Noey, d. aft May 1802
3. Courtney, d. aft May 1802
4. Tammer, d. aft May 1802
5. William, b. abt 1780, d. 1850-65 IL, married Noah, 2 ch
6. Caleb, 1783-1864 IL, m. Mary Curling, 5 ch
7. Infant male, b bef 1790, died young

After she died William married Thamer's younger sister Mary.

Thamer was undoubtedly buried in one of the Forbes family cemeteries in Curruituck County. The local grave markers used at that time were wooden and they did not last long. So her burial site is unknown.
